Introducing Nicola from the Woodside Free Press magazine team! Nicola has been volunteering since October 2017 and heard about shmu through Facebook and thought to herself ‘that looks interesting’. One thing led to another and here she is!
The Tilly Tattle magazine has been running in the local community for several decades and keeps the community informed of all the great things happening in that area.
Wilma is 72 and started volunteering with shmu a few years ago. A resident of Heathryfold for the last 50 years, she was part of the local park group and was interested in why the community was often left out of funding for projects which were aimed at neighbouring communities.
She contacted Laura at shmu to talk about getting involved in the Middlefield Mirror community magazine (which now also covers Heathryfold) and the rest, as they say, is history!
The volunteers involved with the Woodside Free Press have started sourcing content for the next edition of the magazine.
The magazine is produced in partnership between local people and the support staff at shmu and aims to celebrate the local area as well as provide information for people living there.
The volunteers involved with the Cumming North and Middlefield Mirror community magazines and the support team from Station House Media Unit (shmu) have been working hard to produce a joint edition of the magazine in order to share important local information, celebrate the community and encourage positive social change around the issues the community is passionate about. The magazine will be dropping through your letterbox very soon!
The Torry’s Vision editorial team are looking for contributions for the summer 2020 edition of the magazine.
Whether you know someone, or an organisation, who has been going above and beyond to help others in the coronavirus pandemic, or maybe you want to look into a local issue or perhaps you’ve got some creative writing or photography to share, the team want you to get in touch.
The volunteers involved with the Woodside Free Press community magazine and the support team at shmu are passionate about continuing their magazine during this time. Woodside Free Press is put together by volunteers in partnership with shmu and its purpose is to share important local information, celebrate the community and encourage positive social change around the issues the community is passionate about.
Shmu will soon realise a long-held ambition of establishing a Community TV platform.
The project will offer residents in our target communities a new opportunity to express themselves about issues that they feel passionately about, and share them through live TV broadcasts.
Your favourite Breakfast show presenters are still bringing you shows despite being locked away in their homes. Sandy and Dave, better known as The Sandman and The Ironman are recording three days a week and broadcasting on Mondays, Wednesday's and Fridays from 7am to 9am.
