Youth Media at MayFest

On Saturday the 26th of May members of shmu’s Youth Media Team were invited to take part in a science panel called Science on the Spot as part of the 2018 May Festival. We showcased a film we produced as part of British Science Week back in March and got to post questions to several scientists.

Radio Course Number 9 Completed at HMP Grampian

Over the past 12 weeks, nine participants have been taking part in the Radio Broadcasting course at the creative media unit in HMP Grampian. The national progression award in Radio Broadcasting at SCQF level 5 is an introduction to radio production. Shmu & SPS staff support the prisoners through the course, giving them skills in radio broadcasting. It is made up of four units;

Towards Light are an Aberdeen-based psychedelic indie-rock band, with a hint of grunge and blues.

Formed in January 2017, they’re influenced by 1960s psychedelia, as well as 80s and 90s indie and alternative bands such as R.E.M and Nirvana.

Six-piece Aberdeen punk-rock-reggae outfit Gypsy Roots visit the 57 North Presents studio on Monday 30th April.

The band have just released their debut single ‘Everyday’ on local label Fat Hippy Records, and an album, ‘Chanting Down The Babylon’, follows in May.
