Have your say on the redevelopment of shmu HQ

shmu is bursting at the seams, with over 200 volunteers, trainees, staff and visitors making use of the building on a weekly basis and we would like your help to secure £1m to redevelop our headquarters in Woodside, Aberdeen.
It has been our aim for a number of years now to develop state of the art, cutting edge facilities for all employees, volunteers and service users, with up-to-date technology, providing the organisation with the tools and space it requires to build on its effective delivery of all services.
Earlier this year, shmu, in partnership with Aberdeen City Council, submitted a Stage 1 bid to the Scottish Government Regeneration Capital Grant Fund for £1m to help us develop the site at our main office in Woodside, Aberdeen. This proposal was supported and we have been invited to submit a Stage 2 bid, which we have to complete and return by 30 October 2015.
In order to be successful in our bid, we need a clear vision that has been developed and led by those who will benefit most from the development - the volunteers, trainees, partners, staff, neighbours, and wider community members across the regeneration areas of the city. To ensure that this principle is at the heart of our bid, we are embarking on the first phase of a consultation process which will help create the vision for the new building.
We have created a display in the portacabin outside shmu, which includes a range of contemporary and traditional architectural designs, alongside materials aimed at generating responses to the building proposals as well as further ideas and suggestions as to how we can best make use of an extended building.
If you can't make it along to the building itself, we'd be delighted if you could take the time to complete the online survey that we've created, which mirrors the process set up in the portacabin.
You can access the online survey here
We really hope that you take this opportunity to take part in this consultation process - your views are extremely important and will have an impact on the final shape, size, location and internal layout of the new building.
If you would like to book a time to come along to take part in the consultation or require any more information, please don't hesitate to contact Suzanne Poppe on 01224 515013, or email suzanne.poppe@shmu.org.uk
