First step in Paving the Way to Woodside!

What do the Voodoo Amigos, Dolly Mixtures and Isle of View all have in common...? They were all teams who took part in our fundraising quiz last Friday 27th July!
Our quiz night at the Lord Byron Pub in Northfield was shmu's first fundraising event, and a sell-out success, raising over £500 for the new building. The quiz night was the first of a number of events we will be holding to raise funds for our capital campaign, Paving the Way to Woodside - and a great 'first step' towards reaching our £160k target!
With our Chief Exec, and shmu founder, Murray acting as quizmaster for the night, teams were asked to get their thinking caps on as they tackled ten rounds of questions in general knowledge, film, music and sport rounds. Teams had to listen hard during the 'radio round' where they were played a cover version of a song and asked to name the original artist - more difficult than in sounds, apparently!

The winners of the evening were We Are Family, who managed an impressive 99/137, beating winners of the 'best name' prize, My name is Murray, and drinks are on me! who came in a close second with 91 points. Raffles included a losers wooden spoon beautifully decorated by local artist, Juniper Press, a jar of Murray's homemade strawberry jam, and tickets to the Gordon Highlanders Museum.
Our next fundraising event will be on Friday 7th September at The Golden Tee in Torry - keep your eyes peeled for more info, and keep the evening free for what is sure to be another fun night!
