BFI Film Academy 2019 - Apply Now!

Aged 16-19? Passionate about film? Want to work in the film industry? 

Applications are now open for our next BFI Film Academy in Aberdeen.  The course if open to young people aged 16-19 living in the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire area.


Building on the success of the last six years, Station House Media Unit (shmu) is once again working in partnership with the British Film Institute (BFI), Creative Scotland, North East Scotland College and the Belmont Fimhouse to deliver Aberdeen’s sixth BFI Film Academy course.

The course, made possible with funding the BFI and Creative Scotland, will run weekly from October 2019 until January 2020 and as a participant on the course, you will:

  • receive high quality training in screenwriting, directing, production, sound recording, editing and cinematography from one of the UK’s leading film education organisations
  • You can explore your own creativity and passions in a supportive and dynamic environment
  • Have access to masterclasses delivered by respected practitioners working In the industry
  • watch a range of cinema from British independent to specialised films
  • You will work in teams to produce short films culminate in a showcase screening at the Belmont Filmhouse
     

The deadline for applying for the course is Friday 13th September 2019, although we would encourage those who are interested to apply as early as possible.

Please note that you must be available to attend an intensive week (14th - 18th October) and all the weekly sessions between November 2019 and February 2020.
