ATUC make donation to Youth Radio team

Brian Carroll, Interim Secretary of Aberdeen Trades Union Council, popped in to meet members of shmuFM's Youth Radio Project (YRP) on Tuesday evening to thank the team of young broadcasters for their coverage of the St. Andrew's Day march and rally in November.
During the visit, Brian talked to the group about the work of Aberdeen TUC - and enjoyed discussions with shmu's young volunteers about their involvement in the Youth Radio Project - before presenting the team with a donation to support the project.
Members of the Youth Radio Project went along to the St. Andrew's Day rally on 30 November, organised by Aberdeen TUC, to report on the event and the themes of equality, diversity and respect. The YRP team interviewed representatives from a range of organisations and groups taking part in the day, and these interviews were broadcast as part of a feature about the St. Andrew's Day event on YRP's Saturday show the following week.
The Youth Radio Project supports young people aged between 12-18 years of age from the city’s regeneration areas to participate in the development of youth-focused radio programming for broadcast on shmuFM.
The Youth Radio Project broadcast live every Saturday, from 10am-1pm, when young people work as a team to produce and present a show that provides a young person’s perspective on a variety of issues and themes.
In addition, members of the Youth Radio Project have the opportunity to present their individual weekly shows from 4pm-5pm on Monday to Friday. These weekday broadcasts allow young people to produce shows on current topics of interest.
