New music show for Tuesday nights

A new specialist music show joins the shmuFM schedule this week, with a focus on little-known or forgotten tracks by artists you might have missed...

Aron Smith AKA Brutha Voodoo launches his Playlist Obscura at 8pm on Tuesday 18th February, and promises to bring something a little different to Aberdeen's airwaves.

YRP Special Report on Holocaust Memorial Day

Young presenters from Station House Media Unit (shmu) aired a special report on shmuFM to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.  Megan Rollo (16) and Yvannah Gonzalez (16) visited Auschwitz as part of a school project and decided to make a special feature from their experiences on their journey.

From radio to art....

One of shmu’s Youth Radio Project (YRP) team, Emily Howie has turned her hand to painting, as well as producing and presenting YRP shows. Emily is 14 and has been working with shmu since August last year.

New 80s show joins weekend line-up

A new show for fans of 80s music – Ultimate 80s – launches on shmuFM at 7pm on Saturday 18th January, with popular Breakfast show presenter Dave Ironside at the helm.

Seaton Speaks returns to Fridays

shmuFM's Seaton community show, Seaton Speaks, makes a welcome return to a regular Friday slot beginning on 17th January.  The show, hosted by people living and working in Seaton, will now broadcast live from 10-11am every Friday morning.  The show will be repeated from 7-8pm every Friday night.

ATUC make donation to Youth Radio team

Brian Carroll, Interim Secretary of Aberdeen Trades Union Council, popped in to meet members of shmuFM's Youth Radio Project (YRP) on Tuesday evening to thank the team of young broadcasters for their coverage of the St. Andrew's Day march and rally in November.

Listen again to Terry McDermott's show

On the 27th of December, Terry McDermott – The Voice USA Season 3 runner-up – visited shmuFM for a live two-hour special with presenters Gary and Nikki.

Terry McDermott live on shmuFM

From 3-5pm today (Friday 27th), Terry McDermott, star of The Voice USA, will be returning to shmuFM to do a live two-hour session with Gary and Nikki. 

Terry, who grew up in Aberdeenshire, released his first records with legendary local label Fat Hippy, and despite having his pick of UK labels to choose from, he wanted to release his latest EP on the label where it all started.

Tune in to festive FM schedule

Our trusty team of shmuFM volunteers have worked hard to ensure we can broadcast a lively, entertaining and engaging mix of live and recorded shows during the holiday period.

Some presenters have recorded special editions of their radio shows to go out between now and 6th January, while other volunteers will continue to broadcast their shows live during the break.
