shmuFM Band of the Week: David Angus

Local singer-songwriter David Angus is our featured artist

This week's featured artist on shmuFM is local singer-songwriter David Angus! He appeared live on the Band of the Week Show on Monday the 25th of May from 8-10pm.

David Angus is a local singer-songwriter who has been playing guitar and writing his own music for about 3 years, who has previously played bass in a band called The Takeaways. He listens to all kinds of music, and incorporates elements of songs he likes in his own music. If he hears a song or sees a film that he really likes, regardless of genre, he’ll be inspired to write something.

Dave also plays in grunge band Before Cavemen, in which he performs lead guitar and lead vocals – quite a contrast to his solo stuff you’ll hear this week on shmuFM. Dave also performs impromptu sets all over Abereden, and claims that the best part about busking is that “whether people throw £20s or kebabs, it’s still feedback”. Dave recorded his debut EP, Operator, with shmuSOUND, as part of the Youth Music Initiative project.

Keep an ear out for Dave's tracks on our primetime shows - 7-9am, 11-12pm and 5-7pm each day. You can also request his music on any of our live shows, by getting in touch on 01224 483413, by texting 60300 (leave a space, type SHMU and then your message) or emailing the studio, on studio@shmu.org.uk.

As always, the Band of the Week Show is repeated every Friday at midnight until 2am on 99.8fm, and you can listen to the repeat at any time, right here. Dave performed a couple of live tracks on the show - you can hear two here:
