shmu awarded funding for new Making Recovery Visible project after vote

shmu have recently been awarded funding to launch a new project - Making Recovery Visible - after a public vote.

Aberdeen City Alcohol & Drugs Partnership (ADP) Locality Improvement Fund allocated a total of £50,000 in Aberdeen to focus on reducing the harm caused by alcohol and drug use.

CashBack Move Forward Report published

Our CashBack Move Forward programme helps young people through three core projects: Our Youth Media programme, shmu’s Training Academy and the Media Access Project at HMP Grampian.

Moving Image Arts: AS Level Film Course 2021/22

Shmu are once again delivering the AS Level Moving Image Arts course for the 21/22 academic year. MIA is an Applied Subject that examines the history, techniques and creative impact of film, while offering the knowledge and skills to enable students to make their own films.

Two new roles at Digital CONNECT project for Aberdeenshire

Recent periods of lockdown have shown the importance of being digitally connected in supporting our personal and community wellbeing.

These days, everything is online; from the ability to search for health information, applying for jobs, purchasing essential goods, remaining in contact with family and friends or performing work tasks - having access to the right technology has been a lifeline for Scottish people practicing social distancing.

Culture Collective is a network of 26 community-rooted creative projects from all across Scotland,

The network will explore new ways of working; creating employment opportunities for creative practitioners; sharing knowledge and learning; and championing what works to inform the future of support for community-rooted creative activity.

Thanks to funding from Cashback, Fairer Aberdeen and YouthLink Scotland, we're offering an exciting summer programme of free media-based activities to young people who live in the regeneration areas of Aberdeen and have just left P7 or are at secondary school.

Sessions will run throughout the school holidays from July 7th.

shmu involved in 'Elliptical Readings' art project

shmuMEDIA have recently been involved in filming an interesting project which is a collaboration between Aberdeen’s Library Service and Aberdeen Art Gallery. 

‘Elliptical Readings’ involved the filming of nine people, each reading from selected books for 3 minutes in sequence. The piece, recorded as an artwork, focuses on the words and the hands of the readers. See the photo!

shmu featured in Education Scotland '100 stories of lockdown' publication

We were delighted to see an article about what our volunteers achieved for their communities make it into Education Scotland’s ‘What Scotland Learned, 100 stories of lockdown’ publication.

There were thousands of entries, so it's great to see some of their work make it into the top 100 - something positive to share and remember from the lockdown experience!
