Band of the Week: Callahan
Our featured artist this week on shmuFM is Callahan! You can hear them live on the Band of the Week Show on Monday the 25th of August from 8-10pm. You'll hear their new EP, a live set, you'll get to know them and their history, and what's on the horizon for Callahan.
Callahan make sad, triumphant music in the North East of Scotland in a post-rock vein.
Formed from members of previously-featured The Same Thing We Do Every Night, and Cielo Rosso, Callahan play instrumental music that has been compared to Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Explosions in the Sky.
They have influences ranging from film soundtracks through psych rock and ambient music through to black metal.
Callahan has just released their first physical release (although 3rd actual EP), called Wow so Rock. It features 3 songs from different stages of the band re-written and recorded to reflect where they currently are as a band. You can hear tracks from their previous appearance as The Same Thing We Do Every Night, as well as their latest tracks, as Callahan, right here on shmuFM.
