Band of the Week: The Cliftons

Local indie rock four-piece The Cliftons feature on shmuFM

This week, our featured artist on shmuFM is The Cliftons! You can hear their tracks throughout the entire week on our Breakfast, Packed Lunch and Cruise Control shows, and you can of course catch them on the Band of the Week Show on Monday the 27th of April, which broadcasts from 8-10pm.

The Cliftons is a four-piece indie rock band formed in March last year. Their lineup has chopped and changed but now they’ve settled on a sound, inspired by Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Jake Bugg etc.

According to their frontman James: “The only reason we play music is for our souls’ enjoyment: we don't write music for the purpose of selling – we use it as an outlet.”

You can find The Cliftons’ music on Soundcloud and YouTube, and their EP is set to come out in the next two months. For such a young band, they have a polished, mature, sincere sound, and in 5 years The Cliftons would like to see themselves with an album behind them, doing this for a living - because there's nothing better than doing something you love for a living.

You can hear any of The Cliftons' tracks on any of our live shows by getting in contact with the studio on 01224 483413, by texting 60300 (type SHMU, leave a space and then your message) or by emailing studio@shmu.org.uk.

The Band Of The Week Show is repeated every Friday at midnight until 2am on 99.8FM, and you can listen to the show here on our website using the live stream or Listen Again feature.
