Band of the Week: Jo McCafferty

Local singer-songwriter Jo McCafferty features on shmuFM

This week, we're featuring Jo McCafferty! You can hear her live on the Band of the Week Show on Monday the 30th of May from 8-10pm. You'll hear tracks from her albums on all of our primetime shows, as well as the BotW show itself.

Jo McCafferty is a local singer-songwriter and composer. She has released seven albums to date, and has been playing since she was a teenager, both solo and in various bands including Charlotte Says and Modern Uses For Velcro.

Having toured with the likes of Midge Ure and Glenn Tilbrook, Marillion and Donnie Munro, Jo was invited to be a guest support for US Singer/Songwriter Amanda Palmer’s first solo gig in the UK, and she formed the Jo McCafferty Band to play the show. In recent years, since starting a family, Jo has pulled back on live and recorded work, still finding time to do an occasional special guest spot for Joan Armatrading, Fish and Miles Hunt, as well as appearing as a special guest for Marillion at their fanclub convention in the Netherlands, an event attended by over 3,000 people from around the world.

You can tune in to the Band of the Week Show on 99.8fm or online right here. You can also request Jo McCafferty's tracks on any of our live shows, by getting in touch with the studio

As always, don't worry if you miss the show - you can listen again until the 23rd, or tune in the old-fashioned way from midnight to 2am on Friday night for the repeat.
