Fancy free radio exposure in Aberdeen?

The shmuFM Band of the Week Show enjoyed flourishing success throughout 2013, with its 125th show being broadcast on the 16th of December. Over the course of the year, presenters Jaimi Ray and Mark E interviewed around 50 different acts, with roughly 15 of these being solo musicians – despite the name, you see, you don’t have to be a band to feature on the Band of the Week Show.

From folk singers and indie bands to electro outfits and metal bands, we really do showcase all of the talent that Aberdeen has to offer - you can look through the stories here to see this for yourself. As long as you have at least three MP3 tracks of your own original compositions, you are based in Aberdeen/shire and can provide us with a short 2-3 paragraph biography about yourself/your band, then you’re eligible to apply.

In return, we will play your music on our primetime shows to an audience of thousands, as well as promoting your work via our Facebook and Twitter feeds to all of our fans and followers.

As you’d expect of a 2-year-old, the Band of the Week Show has been growing steadily. As well as the usual 2-hour slot every Monday night, and further promotion through other live shows during the week, we had our first Band of the Week Live night in August last year, featuring Lizabett Russo, Geoff Sharp, The Shores and Callahan at Cellar 35.

In November, we hosted our second night with Robbie Flanagan, Full Fat, Daydream Frenzy and UTN at Downstairs. We’ve also released our first compilation of Band of the Week artists, with amazing music from Cyrus Rose, Akord, CS Buchan and more – this is available here.
