First gig for shmu Rap Music project

This Thursday sees the first of two rap gigs at The Lemon Tree organised by young rappers and promoters as part of the SHMU Rap Music Project. The project, which was funded by Creative Scotland, consists of three courses: Beat-making, Lyricism and Gigs and Promotions, as well as a monthly open-mic night at Downstairs, recording slots and regular masterclasses with experienced artists. 

Participants are working with John Anderson from 57north.org and The Lemon Tree’s Steven Milne to learn about all aspects of organising and promoting live music.

The Gig will be on Thursday 2nd of April at The Lemon Tree, featuring a line-up including local artists such as:

Doors open at 7:30pm and there is a suggested donation of £3 as an entry fee.

The second Gigs and Promotion Course will start at the end of April, when a new set of participants will have the chance to organise two further gigs at The Lemon Tree.
