shmuFM Band of the Week: Ashley Park
This week on shmuFM, our featured artist is Ashley Park! He appeared and performed live on the Band Of The Week Show on Monday the 16th of June from 8-10pm.
Starting back in 2007, Ashley Park’s brand of acoustic emo-pop is the creation of Craig Henderson, who wrote songs just to dabble in the world of home recordings.
The name Ashley Park, although originally intended to be a band name, evolved into a nickname for Craig after he found people referring to him as "Ashley" when speaking to him after shows. Craig felt uncomfortable with the idea of an alter ego, but that discomfort soon disappeared when talking about this with a friend, who told Craig: “that’s awesome - you have the same name as the guy from the Evil Dead movies!"
Two EPs and two full-length albums later, this little project has turned into a life-changing journey with tours around the UK and Europe supporting some heroes who he grew up listening to, appearing on a variety of radio shows and TV, guest appearances on the work of other artists, as well as making a lifetime’s worth of friends in just a few years.
