shmuFM Band of the Week: Matanuska
This week we have progressive/groove metal band Matanuska as our shmuFM Band of the Week. You can hear them live on the show on Monday the 31st of March from 8-10pm.
Matanuska is a local three-piece progressive groove metal band. In 2009, “three lost souls – trying to find an escape from the world outside their own musical passions – found camaraderie in a website forum.” With a shared joy of good, heavy, ‘riffy’ music (and a shared disdain for the mundane and ‘samey’), Matanuska was born.
Matanuska wear their influences on their sleeve with pride, and they are equally as unafraid of being mellow as they are being heavy. Their beefy debut album “CULT” will be released on the 5th of April. Whether you’re into 8-minute epics about deranged love or thunderous, guitar-driven tunes, Matanuska has got you covered.
