Festival in the City

Aberdeen went full blast on Saturday the 25th of July in the City Centre with many outdoor out-standing dancing, music and singing performances. The event was at the Aberdeen City Centre at 1pm-4pm and it was a free event. There were many performances from all around the world showing there different cultures.

Dance Explosion

On the 30th of July, a small group of Youth Radio Project (YRP) members travelled to the Belmont Cinema in order to watch “Dance Explosion”, a small documentary explaining how and why Dance became so popular. The overall video was about an hour long.

Youth Music Theatre

As part of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival the Youth Music Theatre took to the stage to showcase the musical and acting talent of the young people up and down the UK. Auditioning people from wales England and Scotland the youth music group is made up of diverse group of individuals.

AIYF performance ‘The Taming of The Shrew’

We would like to present the Mitchell School of Drama's performance of Taming of the Shrew as part of this year’s AIYF. Shakespeare's classic tale of two wealthy sisters was transported into a comedy set in 1960s. 

The play was held at ‘The Lemon Tree’ on 23rd of July at 7pm. It was a pre-festival show and our Youth Media Team were there to cover it.

AIYF in Full Swing

Aberdeen International Youth Festival (AIYF) kicked off this weekend and is in full swing.

Our young people are getting really involved in the festival and have attended lots of events already, gathering film material and interviews.

They're excited to attend more events throughout the week so watch this space for more information and interviews from AIYF.

Youth Media Taster Sessions

shmu are offering exciting youth media taster sessions to all P7 pupils that are moving up to academy after the school holidays. This is available to any young person that either lives or attends the schools in shmu target areas;
Northfield, Cummings Park, Middlefield, Woodside, Tillydrone, Seaton and Torry.

Big Noise visits shmu

The Big Noise visited shmu to appear on the Youth Media Project’s Music Madness show. The Big Noise is a group of talented performers who teach young people to play orchestra instruments and to play a performance for others people.

Horsing around at Hayfield

shmu's Youth Media Team have had a fantastic morning at Hayfield Riding Centre.

We teamed up with the centre to produce a video of a typical morning for the horses at Hayfield.

The group also interviewed Hayfield's Director, John Crawford to find out more about what goes on at Hayfield.
