End of year celebration and AGM 2019

shmu's end of year celebration and Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 3rd December 2019 between 6pm-8pm in shmu HQ on Station Road, Woodside, Aberdeen.

It's a great opportunity for all our volunteers, partners and staff to come along and hear about what has been happening over the last year and what our plans are for the future.

57 North Presents: Casper Heyzeus

Self-proclaimed ‘weirdo synth-pop alt-rockers’ Casper Heyzeus began as a solo project in Aberdeen in 2015. They’ve since expanded to a five-piece and have released a number of albums and EPs both online and on affiliated local cassette label Ice Cream for Crow Records.

57 North Presents: Sam Hibbard

Sam Hibbard is a 21 year-old singer-songwriter based in Aberdeen. He’s been performing since the age of 16 and has played over 250 gigs to date across the UK and further afield in the likes of Eastern Europe and the Greek Islands.

Aberdeen singer-songwriter Craig John Davidson has been releasing music since 2008 and has toured in the UK, Europe and the USA.

Self-described “loner rock” singer-songwriter Oliver Richard from Aberdeen had his song ‘Approach Me Like A Lion’ chosen by David Bowie producer Tony Visconti as the winner of the global Stylophone 50 songwriting competition in 2018.

57 North Presents: The Ghost Tape

Chris Simpson and Jeff Bruce make up Aberdeen rock duo The Ghost Tape.

Regulars on the local scene, they currently have three tracks available online (with more to follow early next year) and play the semi-finals of Krakatoa’s Eruption battle of the bands competition in January.

57 North Presents: The Kymatiks

Eclectic Aberdeen band The Kymatiks formed in November of last year.

Since then, they’ve played headline shows at Aberdeen’s Blue Lamp and Banchory Beer Festival and headline the Inverurie Beer Festival in October.

57 North Presents: Nicky Aiken & The Temple Sons

Aberdeen rock four-piece Nicky Aiken & The Temple Sons formed in 2016.

They released their debut EP ‘Games You're Playing’ earlier this year and head out on a Scottish tour next month, including a date at Aberdeen’s Drummonds on Sunday 24th October.

Applications are now open for our next BFI Film Academy in Aberdeen.  The course if open to young people aged 16-19 living in the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire area.
