shmu’s One Day Challenge

Are you up for making a film, broadcasting a live radio programme, or making a song from scratch in just one day? 

If you live in Tillydrone, Woodside, Torry, Middlefield, Seaton, Northfield or Cummings Park, come and join us at shmu HQ in Woodside, Aberdeen during the summer holidays for shmu’s One Day Challenge.  Our challenge sessions will give you a taster of what goes into creating your own film, radio programme or track and how much fun it can be.

An exciting digital broadcasting future for the city

We are applying for a small-scale Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) licence through Ofcom to run an initiative that will provide an exciting opportunity for the future of radio in the city.

The new Small Scale DAB platform will carry up to twenty different stations in digital quality and will provide an affordable long-term digital future for many existing broadcasters, as well as offering a platform to support local broadcasters to flourish.

Youth Media vs Chemistry!

Our Youth Media Team were recently visited by Dr Alan McCue from the University of Aberdeen in partnership with the Curiosity Fund during British Science Week! The group got to watch multiple chemistry demonstrations, film them and speak about it on their radio show.

Pitching Up - a new project from 57N, shmu & PitchPlay Music

Our new Pitching Up project, run by our 57 North strand, will offer the opportunity for up to 20 young songwriters, singers, producers, composers and musicians to learn and create alongside PitchPlay Music – a dedicated international music publishing service with directors based in Aberdeen and London.

Making Recovery Visible - Film Course

Making Recovery Visible - Film Course begins March 2022

The Making Recovery Visible project offers creative courses that aim to support those negatively affected by substance use & addictive behaviour, and who have embarked on a recovery journey to embrace hope and change.

Each course will work with participants to create meaningful and powerful media that will tackle the associated stigma that surrounds addiction by Making Recovery Visible.
