Nothing to do? Come to shmu!

Thanks to funding from Cashback, Fairer Aberdeen and YouthLink Scotland, we're offering an exciting summer programme of free media-based activities to young people who live in the regeneration areas of Aberdeen and have just left P7 or are at secondary school.

Sessions will run throughout the school holidays from July 7th.

Youth Media at MayFest

On Saturday the 26th of May members of shmu’s Youth Media Team were invited to take part in a science panel called Science on the Spot as part of the 2018 May Festival. We showcased a film we produced as part of British Science Week back in March and got to post questions to several scientists.

Easter Holiday Activities for Young People

SHMU are offering an exciting new training opportunity to young people of academy age living or attending the schools in the regenerations across Aberdeen or Primary 7s from the primary schools in these communities.

Tullos Community Wildlife Garden Site Visit

On a fairly cold Saturday morning in January members of shmu's Youth Media Team wrapped up in lots of layers and took a trip down to Torry to visit the Tullos Community Wildlife Garden site.

Longtime Youth Media host moves on

Tuesday was a day of mixed emotions at shmu as one of our Youth Media presenters Natasha hosted her last Music Madness live show on shmu FM.

Natasha has been involved in Youth Media for over seven years, and has been involved in several projects at shmu including the Youth Radio Project and BFI Film Academy, as well as Youth Film, Radio and Music through the wider Youth Media project.

Evening of World Dance & Music

On the 2nd August 2017, the Youth Media Team were given the opportunity to go along and see the Evening of World Dance & Music at the Tivoli theatre. They were treated to a variety of different acts from around the world. First off to start the show was the Nkrabea Dance Ensemble with their spectacular performance of Jerah.
